The Dyson DC14 vacuum cleaner is one of the most popular series in the upright range, despite some great additions featuring the Dyson Ball technology. With a telescope reach wand with quick release, and Root Cyclone technology, this vacuum is up there with the best.
There are a number of models in this series, each coming with different features and accessories, so as well as this review of the DC14 collection, we've also put together a guide to compare all DC14 vacuums.
Dyson DC14 Design
There are some Dyson vacuums that stand out for their flashy and futuristic looks, but the DC14 is rather toned down with a grey color with yellow, white or blue. As an upright vacuum, it is a little heavier than some other models, but still, the manoeuvrability is very good on the whole.
There are mentions of difficulties cleaning under cabinets and baseboards with the Dyson DC 14 vacuum cleaner. For some low floor cabinets, you may find it easier to use one of the attachments or cleaning tools that comes with the vacuum, because the design is a little bulkier than some other vacuums.
Dyson DC14 Build Quality
As you'd expect from a top brand such as Dyson, the build quality is excellent, despite some reviews mentioning that it doesn't "look" sturdy because of the plastic exterior. There aren't any areas that feel flimsy or fragile with this vacuum though, so as long as you don't drop the vacuum down the stairs a few times, it should last for several years!
Dyson DC14 Suction Power
One of the best characteristics of Dyson vacuum cleaners is the superior suction power. The DC14 series is no different and is impressive on most floor types. In fact, you'll probably be amazed at the difference in amount of dirt and dander this vacuum sucks up on carpets when compared to other vacuum brands.
On hardwood flooring the Dyson DC14 is equally impressive, but you still might find the hard floor tool very useful for hard-to-reach areas. There are quite a few attachments and tools that come with this series making cleaning even easier.
Dyson DC14 Attachments
All DC14 vacuums come with a brush, stair and crevice tool, but there are other Dyson parts and accessories that are also available.
- Brush tool - This is a useful tool that can suck up dust, hair, cobwebs and such in any places that are difficult to get to.
- Stair tool - Obviously this tool is for use on stairs for reaching into the corners of each step.
- Crevice tool - The crevice tool extends and flexes to get in to awkward corners.
The warranty on Dyson DC14 vacuums is 5 years, unless you choose to go for a refurbished DC14 Dyson vacuum cleaner that you can find on sale, in which case you might have around a 90-day warranty.
