You surely must have heard of Royal vacuum cleaners at one point or another, especially if you have been doing a little brochure browsing to choose just the perfect brand and model to use. Interestingly, the Royal vacuum cleaner released its first models back in 1905 – easily making its manufacturer, the P.A. Geier Company, the oldest manufacturer of vacuum cleaners worldwide.
With such humble beginnings at a mere backyard garage situated in Cleveland, Ohio, Mr. Geier began his production of metal cleaners by his bare hands. It did not take long for Mr. Geier’s company and market to grow. Pretty soon, the company expanded and then moved to a 4-storey building and started operating two divisions – the machining division and the cleaner division. Aside from vacuum cleaners, the Geier Company also delved into hair dryers, washing machine units, and mixers. Still, vacuum cleaners became the flagship product of the company, releasing the first ever handheld cleaner in 1937 – the Royal Prince.
In 1953, however, the Walter E. Schott Organization bought the P.A. Geier Company; and with that buyout, the company changed its name to Royal Appliance Manufacturing. However, the owners at the time were not really able to commit themselves wholly to the business so they ended up selling it again; this time, to a number of professionals led by Stan Erbor. This was in 1954. Under Erbor’s leadership, the company did become very successful.
The company underwent transition again in 1981, when a few investors purchased the company and incorporated fresh marketing and sales strategies. Under the new leadership, sales exponentially grew from just $5 million in 1981 to a whopping $408 million in 2000. This exponential growth in sales can actually be attributed to the signature product that the company released in 1984, by the name of the Dirt Devil® Hand Vac. The Dirt Devil® Hand Vac went on to become the most popular and highest-grossing vacuum cleaner ever in the US. Since it was launched to the consuming public, the Dirt Devil® Hand Vac has already sold over 23 million units. And because of this success, it inevitably paved the way for several product introductions bearing the strong brand name of the Dirt Devil.
Whatever your preference, you are sure to find a Dirt Devil vacuum cleaner that suits your needs the most. You can easily find these models and makes in major retail stores and online stores as well. With stats and figures supporting customer satisfaction, Royal vacuum cleaners under the brand name of Dirt Devil will surely be in the market for quite some time.
